The IPIM Summer School was a great experience to listen to people who are bridging science and industry. Most of the speakers were local and gave the feeling about startup, company and business idea financing culture in Groningen. I appreciated a lot the more global perspective given by Ellen 't Hoen. I also loved the introduction by Martin Smit and Dr Ingrid Molema's and Dr Erik Frijlink's take on the relationship of the university (of Groningen) and principal investigators with business initiatives.

One of the best parts were the coaches who helped during groupwork to explore our own business ideas and prepare for pitching them. The evening social activities gave a bit of time to enjoy Groningen and relax after the long days of new impressions. Overall it was a great experience and I would add just a bit more of the global perspective on what's happening in Groningen

I participated at the EIT Health summer school “Industry Perspectives on Innovative Medicine” in summer 2018. Several speakers who work in the industry gave us a broad overview of entrepreneurship. It was really interesting to get to know about jobs in small and midsize companies as well as global players. Furthermore, the training on “how to start your own start-up” was inspiring. The organisation made the week a joyful event with a lot of work compensated with amazing food. Once again, it was a pleasure to work in such a highly international environment with open-minded people during the workshops. The variety of persons from different countries with different research interests and ideas created an amazing atmosphere to work and talk. I was surprised about the innovative ideas which were presented during our pitches on the last day of the summer school. In summary, it was a compact week with a lot of impressions and new information about professional life and how to become a successful entrepreneur. We proceeded from unaware incompetent to aware incompetent – let’s get to the next level of competence together.
